Virtual machines that reside on the same physical server share underlying hardware resources, but are completely isolated from each other as if they were physically separated. This means that if one virtual machine experiences availability problems, it will not affect the availability of applications running on the other virtual machines on the server.

In the event that the underlying hardware itself experiences performance or availability problems, VMware provides the ability to migrate live applications automatically from one physical server to another with no interruption in service. What can I use the Eleven Systems' Hosted VMware servers for?

Basically you can use the servers for anything you can think of. Common uses are web, email, file backup or database servers. Our servers are not for illegal activities so we have an acceptable use policy.

How do the servers perform?

We guarantee the performance of our servers. We have strict performance levels and ensure we never overload the servers.

Do I get full control of my Eleven Systems' Hosted VMware servers?

Yes - 100%. You get full access right down to the virtual BIOS level.

How quickly will my Eleven Systems' Hosted VMware server be available?

Our virtual machines are typically available within 24 hours from order.

Can I change the amount of RAM or number of CPUs available to my Eleven Systems' Hosted VMware server?

Yes. Each virtual machine can be configured with 1, 2 or 4GB of RAM, and 1, 2 or 4 CPUs.

What happens if I need more storage?

You can simply add more storage as necessary in the standard 10GB, 100GB, 500GB, 1TB or 2TB increments. Log in to the provided VMware Hosting Control Panel to create the new storage.

Can I resize my Windows partition to take advantage of this new storage?

Yes. Again, from within your VMware Hosting Control Panel you will be provided this option once you have created the new storage. Note that Windows system partitions cannot be resized.

What is the maximum partition size?

Maximum partition sizes are typically dictated by the guest operating system. For 32 bit Windows virtual machines this limit is 2TB.

Who provides the software licenses?

We provide many Microsoft licenses via a monthly SPLA agreement. Alternatively you can use your own licenses.

What software licenses can I rent from you on the monthly SPLA agreement?

We are always adding to this list, which currently includes Microsoft Windows Server, Office 2007, Project, SQL Server, Exchange Server & ISA Server.

Can I create an Eleven Systems' Hosted VMware server with no contention?

I have an existing virtual machine with a C drive larger than 36GB. Can you host it?

Yes. Contact us to discuss your bespoke requirements further.

Where are your data centres?

For obvious security reasons we do not divulge the exact locations of our data centres. We do however have redundant data centres in Australia and the USA.

How do I get started?

Ordering is simple:

1. Fill in an order form & direct deposit authorisation (monthly charge to bank account or credit card). You will need to pay a small, one-off set up fee.
2. Sign the contract- the standard is 2 years. If you sign up for 3 years, we waive the set up fee. Your service will be up within 4 hours. You can upgrade your service at any time without penalty.
