What is spam? Why is it bad?
Spam is any unsolicited email. Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it.
Doesn't most spam come from Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail?
Spam often has a fake "return address" to try and fool you into thinking it came from Yahoo, Hotmail etc. There is rarely a real return-address. Even if the spam did come from one of these sources, we will detect it anyway.
What do all spammers have in common?
Nothing - that's why they are so hard to trap.

No. We work with all ISPs.
What type of email system do I need?
Any standards based email system will work just fine with Eleven Systems. Our customers are using Microsoft Exchange, Novell Groupwise, Lotus Notes, MDaemon, Sendmail along with many other email servers.
I have a firewall. Why should I buy anything else?
A firewall won't control spam nor provide anti-virus protection.
How do you prevent new viruses? How do I know I will be protected?
We use two different anti-virus tools. Virus Outbreak Filters (VOF), our "Zero day" virus detection tool, which over the last 2 years, has detected over 99% of new viruses in minutes. This is many hours, and in some cases days before the anti-virus companies have brought out signatures to catch them. Our back up tool is Sophos anti-virus, which captures all known viruses.
What is a Directory Harvest?
Spammers use automated tools to "harvest" email addresses from your email server. All they need is your domain name then they attack your email server to gather your email addresses. Eleven Systems stops this attack dead!
Will I lose control of my network if I outsource my email filtering?
You maintain complete control of your network. All we do is deliver you clean email.
Will my privacy be protected?
Our service is automated and the filtering is performed by dedicated email hygiene appliances. We do not look at or modify your emails in any way.
How many users does it cover?
Unlike other providers our pricing is based on ranges of email users. E.g. If you have 29 employees, you can purchase the service for 21-50 users. If you hire two more staff, there is no need to notify us. Please contact us for pricing information.
Do I need to notify Eleven Systems if I change my ISP?
If you change the IP address of your mail server then we need to know otherwise we cannot forward your clean email to you.
What does the included data cover?
Included data covers all mail coming into and leaving the service.
Do I have to send my outbound email through Eleven Systems?
No, outbound emails do not have to be sent through the service. If this is the case, some features stated (bounce verification) will not be supported, and we will not be able to protect against outbound viruses.
If an outbound email is blocked from being sent, is it the Eleven Systems service that does this?
If the email contains a virus or other malicious content, it will be blocked, and a message will be sent to the sender. It is possible, however, that a legitimate email that has passed through the Eleven Systems service is blocked by the recipient's anti-spam systems. This is outside Eleven Systems control and should be addressed with the recipient's support team.
How and when will I be billed for the service?
Eleven Systems will provide Direct Debit documentation that will set-up a Direct debit schedule for the service. This can only be changed by Eleven Systems via written notification to you the client. The service is billed on the 15th of every month.
Who should I contact for if I have concerns about my service?
In the first instance, an email should be sent to support@elevensystems.com with a brief description in the subject line of the issue and the contact details of the person who an Eleven Systems support agent can contact about the case.
What happens to our emails if I have power outage?
We will queue your messages for up to 48 hours in the event that we cannot contact your email server. After that, we return the email to the sender.
Can I turn on filtering for multiple domains?
Yes. The Eleven Systems service provides coverage for all of your email domains. As part of the discovery process, we will ask you to provide us with a list of all of the domains the Eleven Systems service needs to protect.
Will I get reporting as part of the service?
Yes. We will provide a detailed monthly report of what the service is providing.
How do I get started?
Ordering is simple:
- Fill in an order form & direct deposit authorisation (monthly charge to bank account or credit card). You will need to pay a small, one-off set up fee.
- Sign the contract- the standard is 2 years. If you sign up for 3 years, we waive the set up fee. Your service will be up within 4 hours. You can upgrade your service at any time without penalty. Alternatively you can sign up for a free trial. This provides a full service for one month free.

Is it complicated to switch my email service to Eleven Systems?
No - it's really simple. Just make one simple change to your company's DNS record and you're up and running. DNS is the Internet directory service that tells email servers how to find you.
Do I really need to change my own DNS records - can't you do it for me?
Yes we can. There is a small fee for doing this but we can manage it all for you.
How do I pay?
You can pay by direct debit either from a bank account or credit card.
What is your guarantee of service?
99.999% uptime or that month is free. This equates to a guarantee of no more than 30 seconds of downtime per month!
What makes your service so good?

How do I know you're doing a good job?
You won't get spam and no-one will complain that their emails to you are bouncing.
How do I manage and tune the service?
You don't need to. Eleven Systems manage the service for you. All you need to do is provide us with the email addresses and domain names you want to use and we look after it from there. There's no use paying for a service then having to manage it yourself.
Do I need to install / download any software on my PC in order to use the Eleven Systems' Email Hygiene service?
No. The service is provided in the Internet cloud so you don't need to do anything to your PC or email server.
Is there a minimum system requirement to subscribe to this service?
Yes - you must have an email server and an address!
What is the time required for activating the service?
Typical lead time for activation is 4 hours.
I've gotten an email telling me I've got email in a Quarantine?
Look at the details of the suspicious email listed and if you want to receive it then just click the link "Not Spam". If you don't want it, just ignore it and we'll automatically delete it for you.
